“I try to capture the feeling or mood rather than a factual representation of what I am looking at. “

At last the start of December with it all the glitz of Christmas colours and lights and also the beautiful photography of RockinMonique, who I am delighted to share with you this month.

Wonderful bokeh ,creative and clever vision and adorable macro details….these are just a couple of the reasons why I love Monique’s  amazing photography. What I adore most is the ambience and emotion they evoke.I feel as if many of her organic subjects are normally hidden and once in front of the camera they shyly and apprehensively share their beauty with the viewer.

Some images tell a story but many have a sense of mystery and quiet stillness, created by Monique’s skilful manipulation  of the camera.

She captures the elegance and stillness of the subject by creating soft blurred backgrounds, beautiful bokeh and emphasis upon subtle colours and delicate form and texture.

My words are not the clearest so just enjoy these enchanting images and think for yourself.

About the Artist in her own words

In 2010 I was diagnosed with a very rare balance disorder called MdDS. The best way to describe it is: on a good day it feels like I am walking on a mattress and on a bad day a waterbed while the world around me moves up and down and side to side. It changed my world and how I saw and lived in it.

For my birthday in 2013 my amazing husband bought me a camera in hopes that it would encourage me to leave the house and do something that feeds my creative side. Well – I have been in love since day one! Even on bad days – when leaving the house is not possible – I find something to shoot.

I am self taught with still so much to learn. I shoot with a Canon T6S and have what is the beginning of a decent lens collection 🙂

I try to capture the feeling or mood rather than a factual representation of what I am looking at. I love the post processing as much as the photo taking as I can then add my very personal vision for my image. My hope is that my images inspire some kind of emotion for the person viewing it.

“Paris is always a good idea” Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina

Jadore, Art Nouveaux, Impressionism, elegance and pure style, Paris didn’t let me down it has everything. This city does everything stylishly and effortlessly from street graffiti and rubbish bins to adverts in the Metros displayed in Renaissance fashion frames.

The streets with their charming high buildings and Art Deco features were a pleasure to the eye, and the people were very polite and friendly despite my attempts at speaking French.

The most tourist thing I did was go to the Musee D’orsay on a late night opening. This was a fantastic experience especially standing in front of Van Gogh’s Starry night and really seeing the vibrant colours and brush strokes……..now inspired to try and convey this effect in future projects.

Anyway this is how I saw Paris
