“I try to capture the feeling or mood rather than a factual representation of what I am looking at. “

At last the start of December with it all the glitz of Christmas colours and lights and also the beautiful photography of RockinMonique, who I am delighted to share with you this month.

Wonderful bokeh ,creative and clever vision and adorable macro details….these are just a couple of the reasons why I love Monique’s  amazing photography. What I adore most is the ambience and emotion they evoke.I feel as if many of her organic subjects are normally hidden and once in front of the camera they shyly and apprehensively share their beauty with the viewer.

Some images tell a story but many have a sense of mystery and quiet stillness, created by Monique’s skilful manipulation  of the camera.

She captures the elegance and stillness of the subject by creating soft blurred backgrounds, beautiful bokeh and emphasis upon subtle colours and delicate form and texture.

My words are not the clearest so just enjoy these enchanting images and think for yourself.

About the Artist in her own words

In 2010 I was diagnosed with a very rare balance disorder called MdDS. The best way to describe it is: on a good day it feels like I am walking on a mattress and on a bad day a waterbed while the world around me moves up and down and side to side. It changed my world and how I saw and lived in it.

For my birthday in 2013 my amazing husband bought me a camera in hopes that it would encourage me to leave the house and do something that feeds my creative side. Well – I have been in love since day one! Even on bad days – when leaving the house is not possible – I find something to shoot.

I am self taught with still so much to learn. I shoot with a Canon T6S and have what is the beginning of a decent lens collection 🙂

I try to capture the feeling or mood rather than a factual representation of what I am looking at. I love the post processing as much as the photo taking as I can then add my very personal vision for my image. My hope is that my images inspire some kind of emotion for the person viewing it.

” I can express myself freely. I have almost no constraints”

It is the season to be jolly, and I am so excited to be unwrapping the creative and original work of Antonio Iacobelli . Antonio refers to himself as a “user ” of the camera rather than a photographer or artist. I have tried to think of a photographer or artist to compare his work to but can not think of anyone else who is quite like him.

Antonio’s unique images are very creative in so many different ways………..  they skilfully capture bold  colours and textures of different forms whether it be liquids gases etc. and they tend to be shown from a macro perspective. It was this that first drew me to Antonio’s stunning images. This is a too simplistic description because as you will see, his work also has an air of witty humour, with a generous portion of Surrealism. Antonio is also like an inventor/magician creating clever illusions by the way he constructs the composition and forces you to take a closer look at what you are actually seeing.

Enjoy and be beguiled …………

How to make music Antonio Iacobelli

A few words from the Inventor

I do not like to call myself a photographer. I do not think of it. I would say more of a “user” of cameras. In fact, using the medium of photography to realize visually some ideas that (I still wonder), magically arise in my mind. Most of the time from the simple observation of the world around me. TV, newspapers, advertising, internet, music, images, readings .. Very often I jot down the by drawing on a piece of paper and making it almost the projects, already imagining the result. It notes also the means of implementation and possible solutions to technical barriers. To overcome them, I invent empirical spectacular machines made of cotton thread, paper, glue, scissors, rubber bands, stands, pumps … Also, to achieve dynamic shots, I’ve got traps and other electronic gizmos (acoustic trigger, infrared and laser). The prodromal to click I love it. Invent the how to do, I also find it exciting in some ways ..

I love the colours. In its physical form. It is solid or liquid, gaseous or powder. Probably, indeed certainly, cultural heritage of my life spent among canvases, easels, brushes, pencils and colors. Activities that still does not neglect. I say that I have integrated those “old” and historical painting tools, with the photograph. I found and improved my world and expressive. I’m very well. I can express myself freely. I have almost no constraints.
Perhaps the key to this “well-being” expressive, is given above all in wanting to remain an amateur. An amateur very passionate, no “artistic” pretensions and professional.
